What We Believe
About the Bible
-
We believe the Scriptures are inspired by God and declare His design and plan for mankind.
All scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness: That the man of God may be perfect, thoroughly furnished unto all good works.
2 Timothy 3:16-17
About God
-
We believe there is only one God, revealed in three Persons—Father, Son, and Holy Spirit.
-
We believe in the deity of the Lord Jesus Christ. As God’s Son, Jesus was both human and divine.
-
We believe the Scriptures declare His virgin birth, His sinless life, His miracles, His substitutionary work on the cross, His bodily resurrection from the dead, and His exaltation to the right hand of God.
-
We believe the baptism in the Holy Spirit is a special experience following salvation that empowers believers for witnessing and effective service.
-
We believe the initial physical evidence of the baptism in the Holy Spirit is speaking in tongues, as experienced on the Day of Pentecost and referenced throughout Acts and the Epistles.
Hear, O Israel: The Lord our God, the Lord is one.
Deuteronomy 6:4
About Salvation
-
Man’s only hope of redemption is through the shed blood of Jesus Christ.
-
Salvation is received through repentance toward God and faith toward the Lord Jesus Christ.
-
The inward evidence of salvation is the direct witness of the Spirit.
-
The outward evidence to all men is a life of righteousness and true holiness.
-
Sanctification initially occurs at salvation and is, not only a declaration that a believer is holy, but also a progressive lifelong process of separating from evil as believers become more Christlike.
For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God:
Ephesians 2:8
About the Church
-
The Church has a mission to seek and save all who are lost in sin.
-
We believe the Church is the Body of Christ and consists of the people who, throughout time, have accepted God’s offer of redemption through the sacrificial death of His Son Jesus Christ.
-
We believe in and practice two ordinances: water baptism by immersion after repenting of one’s sins and receiving Christ’s gift of salvation; and, Holy Communion as a symbolic remembrance of Christ’s suffering and death for our salvation.
-
We believe a divinely called and Scripturally ordained ministry serves the Church. The Bible teaches that each of us must commit ourselves to reach others for Christ, to worship Him with other believers, and to build up or edify the body of believers.
Go ye therefore, and teach all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Ghost: Teaching them to observe all things whatsoever I have commanded you: and, lo, I am with you always, even unto the end of the world. Amen.
Matthew 28:19-20
About Man
-
Man was created good and upright. However, we believe man willingly fell to sin—ushering evil and death, both physical and spiritual, into the world.
Wherefore, as by one man sin entered into the world, and death by sin; and so death passed upon all men, for that all have sinned:
Romans 5:12
About the End Times
-
We believe the blessed hope is when Jesus raptures His Church prior to His Second Coming.
-
The Millennial Reign will happen when Jesus returns with His saints at His Second Coming and begins His benevolent rule over earth for 1,000 years.
-
A final judgment will take place for those who have rejected Christ. They will be judged for their sin and consigned to eternal punishment in the lake of fire.
-
Jesus has prepared new heavens and a new Earth for all people, of all time, who have accepted Him.
-
We will live and dwell with Him there forever following His Millennial Reign on Earth.
Nevertheless we, according to his promise, look for new heavens and a new earth, wherein dwelleth righteousness.
2 Peter 3:13
